Transport & Licensing

The Shire of Lake Grace Administration Office is a transport licensing agent.

This service is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am - 4.00pm.

We can process the following transactions:

  • Vehicle registrations and renewals
  • Vehicle transfers
  • Change of number plates
  • Temporary permits
  • Number plate orders
  • Motor drivers licence applications and renewals
  • Motor drivers licence photographs
  • Bookings for Theory Tests & Hazard Perception Test (CTT & HPT)
  • Monthly Practical Driving Assessments (PDA)
  • Boat registration renewals
  • Change of addresses

Computer Theory Tests (CTT)

Minimum age 16 years

The Shire of Lake Grace has CTT facilities. There is no need to book, just arrive the Shire Administration building before 4:00 pm at the latest so relevant paperwork can be processed in time.

Initial CTT Fee is $20.40

Supplementary CTT Fee is $ 16.90

Once you have passed the CTT you will be issued a Learner's Permit.

Log Books & Learner Guides

A Log Book and Learner Guide is issued at the time of a successful Pass of your CTT.

This contains information to assist you in developing safe driving skills. It also has a combined log book you need to record your supervised day and night driving experience prior to your Practical Driving Assessment.

Log Book requirements are now 50 supervised hours including a minimum of 5 hours of night driving (between sunset and sunrise).

Log Book Fee is $10.00 (payable at the time of initial application)

Hazard Perception Test (HPT)

Minimum age 16 years & six months

You can complete your HPT a minimum of six months after you receive your Learner's Permit.

No booking is required, simply bring your Learner's Permit in for identification purposes.

You must pass the HPT before you can attempt a Practical Driving Assessment.

Once you have passed the HPT, you need to build on your experience and continue to record a minimum of 50 supervised driving hours including at least five hours at night.

Initial HPT Fee is $26.80

Supplementary HPT Fee is $ 21.00

Practical Driving Assessment (PDA)

Minimum age 17 years

IMPORTANT

To increase the availability of suitable times people are able to book online at the Department of Transport website or ring the Shire office and ask for a booking.

You will need to bring with you:

  • Your learner's permit card or one form of primary identification and one form of secondary identification (one must include your signature. Refer to the website for more information);
  • Your completed Log Book (if applicable). If you have used the Learn&Log app to complete all of your hours, please submit the electronic declaration of completion at least 24 hours prior to your PDA; and
  • A licensed roadworthy vehicle of appropriate class. It is important to note that private C class vehicles must be fitted with a centrally mounted handbrake that the front passenger can operate if required.

Once you have passed the PDA you will be granted a provisional licence and are able to drive unsupervised.

Initial PDA Fee is $126.10 included in your learners permit  (payable at the time of initial application)

Supplementary PDA Fee is $104.40
