Total Fire Bans and Harvest and Vehicle Movement Bans – What’s the Difference?

During our hot, dry summer months we all have a shared responsibility to make sure that the chance of a bush fire starting or spreading is minimised. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and the Shire of Lake Grace will put out bans that restrict some activities that may cause fires and it can sometimes be a little tricky to know what you can and can’t do when a ban has been imposed.

Australia Day 2021 will provide an important opportunity for us to reflect on the challenges of the past year, respect the sacrifices and contributions of those who responded in a time of need and celebrate being together and being Australian.

In the past year Australia has faced immense challenges – drought, bushfire, floods and the coronavirus pandemic, we reflect on the resilience of communities and of helping and giving that defines the Australian spirit.

The Prohibited Burning Season

 is now in place, brought forward from 1 November due to extremely dry local conditions. From midnight on Wednesday 22 October it is illegal to light a fire in open air within the Shire.
