Newdegate Medical Centre Timetable

Lake Grace Doctor attends the Medical Centre every Wednesday from 9.30 - 3.30pm. For an appointment ring the Lake Grace Medical Centre on 9865 1208.

Lake Grace Child Health Nurse attends the Medical Centre the first Wednesday of every month. For an appointment please ring 9890 2246.

Official Opening of the Newdegate Medical Centre

An large number of Newdegate locals and school students gathered outside the Newdegate Medial Centre at 2.30pm Thursday 22nd February to witness and participate in the official opening ceremony.

Although hot there was a slight breeze flowing through the ambulance bay making it a very enjoyable afternoon. Mr Martin Harrop the Shire's Manager Infrastructure Services started the proceedings, by welcoming Hon Terry Waldron MLA Minister for Sport & Recreation; Racing & Gaming; Minister assisting the Minister for Health, Shire President Cr Len Armstrong, Newdegate Field Day President Mr Keith Hams, Honorary Freeman of the Shire Mrs Silvia Brandenburg, Newdegate School students and the people assembled.

Shire President Cr Len Armstrong spoke about his pride for the people of Newdegate thanking them for their steadfast dedication to the project and accomplishing the completion of the Newdegate Medical Centre.

He acknowledged funding from Royalties for Regions Country Local Government Fund, the Newdegate Field Day Committee and the Australian Department of Health and Aging through its National Rural and Remote Health Infrastructure Program. He thanked Mr Neil Teals from Countryside Homes, Mr Len Buckeridge from BGC for the discount on the bricks, Mr Gary Batt the architect, the Shire of Lake Grace Building Team for their support and the Gardening Team for landscaping and the continued care of the garden.

President Armstrong then asked the Hon Terry Waldron to come forward to say a few words and officially declare the Newdegate Medical Centre open. Len, Keith and Terry declared the centre open and unveiled the plaque.

Then Terry moved to the door where he was introduced to student Hannah Tonkins who had the privilege of representing Newdegate Primary School to assist with the cutting of the ribbon.

A superb afternoon tea was shared by all, which was catered for by the Newdegate P&C. The centre was opened up giving people a chance to wonder through the facility and admire the achievement for Newdegate and surrounding areas.

Varley Cemetery

The Varley Cemetery is located 1.8 kilometres south of Varley on the Hyden-Lake King Rd.

This cemetery is maintained and managed by the Shire of Lake Grace.

Lake King Cemetery

 

The Lake King Cemetery is located east of the town site on the Newdegate-Ravensthorpe Road.

 

This cemetery is maintained and managed by the Shire of Lake Grace.

Lake Grace Cemetery

The Lake Grace Cemetery is located 2.5 kilometres west of the Lake Grace town site on the Lake Grace-Dumbleyung Rd.

 

In recent years a comprehensive restoration project has been completed due to damaged sustained from the January 2006 flood.  This was with assistance from Lotterywest and included new numbered plot markers for all graves, grave markers for unmarked graves, improved entry road and parking facilities,

new seating,  installation of a gazebo, erection of a sheltered

outdoor service facility, an eco toilet, water tank, upgraded pathways and landscaping.

 

This cemetery is maintained and managed by the Shire of Lake Grace.
